The PARK AVENUE MEDICINE & SURGERY Outreach Program’s mission is to help provide health related information to those who would benefit from it. In addition, we strive to ease the journey of the next generation of physicians, especially those who are limited by the lack of opportunities around them.
We hope to achieve this through:
Creating a webinar series dedicated to the spread of pain management and rehabilitation videos. (These videos can be found by clicking here.)
Mentoring pre-medical and medical students and providing opportunities that will help them succeed
Providing clinical opportunities to groups disadvantaged in medicine
Live talks to various organizations and school clubs about the numerous obstacles faced along the medical journey
Volunteering directly with the community
Posting small blog articles related to health, medicine, and socially relevant topics

Meet the Team
Dr. Karan Johar
A recognized, dual-boarded pain management and rehabilitation specialist, Karan Johar, MD is passionate about healthcare. Born to Indian immigrant parents, his inspiration stems from his relationship with his grandmother, who had various health issues including heart disease. Grateful to the surgeon who saved her, he wanted to become a physician who would make a difference one day for some child and their favorite grandmother.
Cherry Lam
A graduate of New York University and a first generation student, Cherry Lam is passionate in outreach and serving the community. Her volunteer interests have been greatly shaped by her experiences helping her working class, immigrant parents. She hopes to soon apply to medical school to one day become a physician who can continue to volunteer her time to assisting others, especially those from low income neighborhoods..
Allujanatt Ajao
As an undergraduate who majors in Global Public Health, currently attends New York University, and is a first generation student, Allujanatt Ajao is passionate about making an impact in her community through endless volunteer and community building activities all throughout the city. Born to Nigerian-Ghanian immigrant parents, her passion stems from watching her mom change her career in education to that in healthcare due to seeing the need for more Africans as first-response healthcare workers. She hopes to soon apply to PA school to become the compassionate physician assistant who will then cultivate a program to bridge the gap between patients and their providers mainly within low-income neighborhoods.
